Baraza to rotate squad for Bungoma Shield assignment

Sofapaka vs Bungoma Super Stars

Sofapaka boss John Baraza says he will rotate his squad to give players who haven’t played much in the league an opportunity to taste action when his charges take on Bungoma Super Stars in the first round of the FKF Shield on Saturday at the Sudi Stadium.

Sofapaka, last season’s beaten finalists are enjoying good form at the moment to sit top of the Kenyan Premier League standings and this will be an opportune moment for Baraza to rest some of his key players.

“I have a bug squad of almost 30 players and this will be a chance to also give others a chance to show what they have to offer while also giving the others some rest. I trust all my players and I know when given the chance, they can do well,” Baraza noted.

Sofapaka lost last year’s final to Kariobangi Sharks despite leading 2-1 with almost eight minutes left and with the hurt still fresh, they will be looking to make amends as they seek a trophy in two different avenues.

“Most of the players who were in that final are still in the team and they know how it felt. This time we want to do our best and go all the way to the final and win it. It is possible if we work hard in every stage,” Baraza opined.
