Bandari beat Mathare to edge closer to top 10

While they guarded the lead, Bandari ensured they made it to within comfortable distance when the two earlier substitutes combined, Msagha laying up a delightful pass for Mwamba to finish, his third goal in as many games after returning from injury.

Goals from Abdallah Hassan, William Wadri and Yema Mwamba earned Bandari a 3-1 victory over Mathare United as they kept their winning ways, responding positively to new coach ken Odhiambo’s arrivals.

The dockers were struggling for form but back to back wins have ensured they keep their hunt for a top five push, the victory taking them to 11th with 26 points, three away from the top half of the standings.

The dockers, riding on some good form and some renewed faith were rampant from the opening minute and had chances to score. On the quarter hour mark, Wadri had a chance from a Danson Chetambe pass but his shot was turned behind for a corner.

They ultimately got ahead five minutes to the break when Abdallah, returning from almost a month off with injury, glanced in a header from a cross. Four minutes later, they were 2-0 up when Wadri came to the end of a Chetambe cross before tapping beyond the keeper.

The dockers went to the break with a healthy 2-0 lead at halftime. But after the break, Mathare came with renewed vigor, hunting for the two goals and a probable winner.

After a spell of dominance they finally pulled one back in the 70th minute through John Mwangi.

Bandari responded to the goal by making a double change, Darius Msagha and Mwamba coming on for Abdallah and John Mwita. With 10 minutes left, the coaching team went for a defensive block, Dan Guya replacing Chetambe.

While they guarded the lead, Bandari ensured they made it to within comfortable distance when the two earlier substitutes combined, Msagha laying up a delightful pass for Mwamba to finish, his third goal in as many games after returning from injury.
