Atletico Madrid's Partey: Kenya not an easy team
Ghana's Black Stars take on Kenya's Harambee Stars in a 2019 AFCON Qualifier at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday 8th September
Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey says the team does not expect an easy clash when they take on Kenya’s Harambee Stars play the Black Stars in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder says Kenya is a good team with good individual talent, even in the absence of skipper Victor Wanyama.
“We prepared to come and win but we know it is not going to be an easy game. We cannot underrate Kenya because they are a good team. We just have to go in there and do our job and come off with three points,” Partey said after the side’s training session at the Kasarani Stadium on Friday.
He says the team has had good preparations and despite having many new players, they will still offer a good squad to possibly vie for three points.
“We are well prepared for the game because we have had such a good session in Ethiopia where we covered a lot of ground. I think as players and as a team, we are ready for Saturday,” Partey noted.
The midfielder is expected to take over the captain’s armband for the Saturday game with the absence of regular captain Asamoah Gyan.
“It is up to the coach to decide because for me, I always want to go out and do well for the team. If the coach gives me that challenge, I will take it,” said Partey.
