Athletics Kenya Announces New Date for Nairobi City Marathon

Athletics Kenya Announces New Date for Nairobi City Marathon

Kenya is also gearing up to send a formidable team of elite runners to this year’s Paris Marathon, led by the legendary Eliud Kipchoge.

Athletics Kenya has announced that the Nairobi City Marathon will be rescheduled to September 8th, instead of the previously planned July 7th date.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Athletics Kenya explained, “The postponement has been necessitated by widespread consultations and introspection with stakeholders, including athletes who had registered for the marathon.”

Further elaborating, Athletics Kenya noted, “The prevalent suggestion and opinion from these consultations is that the event be rescheduled to allow athletes adequate preparation time. Consequently, the marathon will now take place on September 8th, featuring competitions in the following categories: 42km, 21km, 11.7km, and the 4km family fun run.”

“We apologize to everyone who invested their time and resources in preparing for the original date and empathize with the inconveniences caused by this sudden change,” the statement added.
