Administration Police (AP) men's volleyball team have set lofty targets of reaching the 2023 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men's playoffs.
Well aware that it is a huge undertaking, the side believes they have what it takes to fight for a finish in the top four at the conclusion of the regular season.
AP opened their season with a loss against former champions Prisons Kenya in the first leg hosted at Mosoriot in December.
However, they enjoyed an almost perfect weekend in the second leg, winning all their three matches against Trailblazers, Prisons Rift Valley and Kenya Forest Service (KFS) for seven points.
"Our training had been really good coming into the second leg of the season. In Mosoriot, we struggled with the weather and were ill-prepares for a team as experienced as Prisons are.
The technical bench has been very instrumental in the turnaround as they have worked on the confidence of the team, especially the young players who have been a big part of our performance in the second leg.
We will build on this momentum going forward as we look to qualify for the playoffs. We know it will be a tough task because of how competitive the league is but we will fight," captain Julius Njuguna offered.
The law enforcers, who finished in 12th place last season are now seventh on a similar number of points after four matches, tied with Prisons Rift Valley.
Holders General Service Unit (GSU) headline the standings after the second leg, having won all their three matches in straight-sets for maximum points.
Kenya Army are in second place on nine points from gour matches, having won three, one in straight-sets and the other two in a 3-1 scoreline.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Prisons Kenya and Prisons Nairobi complete the top five places. The top four teams are tied on nine points with the finish placed team a point behind.
