All set for June Kangogo’s Floorball Memorial Tournament
June Kangogo was the Kenya national women’s Floorball team and made her last appearance for the national team during the Charity International Tournament in Kampala Uganda btw 27-30 December of 2022
Thirteen teams have confirmed participation in the June Kangogo’s Floorball Memorial Tournament to be hosted by National Training Institute (NITA) in Conjunction with the Kenya Floorball federation at International Christian Centre and Kenya Instituted of Water on Saturday and Sunday 3rd and 4th June 2023.
June Kangogo was the Kenya national women’s Floorball team and made her last appearance for the national team during the Charity International Tournament in Kampala Uganda between 27-30 December of 2022. She also was instrumental in the NITA women’s team participating in the National Floorball League as well as doubling up as a player representative in the Federation.
Speaking to Michezoafrika.com Kelvin Akosombo Said “This is a one-off tournament being funded by the NITA team, and shall also be used to gauge the preparedness of the provisional list of players selected for the national team. We invite everyone to come and be part of this memorial tournament as we celebrate June’s achievements on the floorball court” He said.
The top teams will be feted with trophies while players stand a chance of winning individual awards during the tournament. The Saturday matches shall be staged at the International Christian Center before switching to KEWI on Sunday for final matches.
Before her murder, June Kangogo was an accountant at the National Training Institute. The 36-year-Old was a master’s student at Kenyatta University and went missing on the Saturday 19th March 2023 before her body was discovered at City Mortuary a week later with Police reports indicating that her body was dumped by the road side in Jamhuri estate.
