Akwana replaces Ouna at Mathare

Akwana, a former Mathare United player, served as an Assistant Coach on Ouna's technical bench as the 2008 league champions managed to secure their stay in the Kenyan top flight after flirting with relegation for large spells of the 202/21 campaign. He has previously coached at AFC Leopards, Posta Rangers, Sofapaka, KCB and Mumbi Nationale.

Ezekiel Akwana

Ezekiel Akwana has been confirmed as Head Coach at Mathare United, taking over from Frank Ouna who left to take charge of Rwandese side, Musanze.

Akwana, a former Mathare United player, served as an Assistant Coach on Ouna's technical bench as the 2008 league champions managed to secure their stay in the Kenyan top flight after flirting with relegation for large spells of the 202/21 campaign. He has previously coached at AFC Leopards, Posta Rangers, Sofapaka, KCB and Mumbi Nationale.

He will be assisted by another Mathare old boy, George Midenyo who was also part of the miracle working technical bench last season. 

Founded in 1994, the club wrote its way into the history books by becoming the first club outside the top tier to win the Moi Golden Cup ( FKF Cup) in 1998. They would win it again in 2000.
