Athletics Kenya (AK) has officially revealed the team that will represent Kenya at the forthcoming World Athletics Indoor Championships scheduled to take place from March 1st to 3rd in Glasgow, Scotland.
Leading the charge is Ferdinand Omanyala, who aims to continue his remarkable form following an outstanding performance at the Elite Indoor Track Miramas Meeting in France.
Omanyala's recent feat saw him break his own national record in the 60m dash, clocking an impressive 6.52 seconds in the finals, surpassing his previous mark by 0.2 seconds.
Noah Kibet, set to compete in the 800m category, is determined to achieve a personal best. The 2021 World Under-20 champion, though facing challenges in the previous season, eyes a fresh start to inspire a stellar performance this year, with the Paris Olympics looming in July. Kibet faces tough competition from the likes of World Indoor 800m champion Collins Kipruto.
Vivian Kiprotich, aspiring to emulate the success of Mary Moraa, aims to clinch gold after finishing fourth in the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Meanwhile, Reigning World Under 20 1,500m champion Reynold Cheruiyot is eager to make his mark, buoyed by the validation of his world record achieved at the Prefontaine Classic. Cheruiyot will face off against Vincent Keter Kibet in his category.
Teresia Muthoni Gateri will represent Kenya in the women's 3,000m category, while Zablon Ekhal Ekwam, Boniface Mweresa, Kelvin Sane, and Wiseman Were will form the formidable quartet in the 4 × 400m relay men's category.
