Africa Volleyball: Kenya beat Libya to set Nigeria date

The Kenya men’s volleyball team on Wednesday picked their first win at the ongoing African championships in Cairo Egypt.

The youthful Kenyan team cruised past a hard fighting Libya 3-2 in an entertaining five set action winning 3-2 (16-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-21, 15-12).The win improved Kenya’s  win- loss ratio to 1-2, however Kenya finished at the bottom of Pool B with 3 points.

Although Libya lost their second match and finished with a win- loss ratio of 1-2 they secured a quarterfinal ticket after they drew with Ghana on 4 points each.Libya qualified with a better set ratio of 7-8 ahead of Ghana who had 5-6 set ratio.

Having failed to meet the quarter finals threshold, Kenya will face Nigera in the classification match on Thursday 26th October.

The 2017 Men's African championship doubles also as 2018 World Championship qualifiers where the top three African teams book their tickets to represent Africa in the FIVB Prestigious championship
