The quarterfinal pairing at the CAF U20 African Cup of Nations is now complete following Monday’s action in Group C.
Gambia defeated Ghana 2-1 while Morocco were 3-0 winners over Tanzania.
Gambia rallied from a goal down to defeat the Ghanaians, a result that saw them reach the quarterfinals for the first time since the 2007 tournament when they finished third. Abdul Fatawu had given Ghana the lead with an eighth minute goal before strikes from Kajally Drammeh and Lamarana Jallow gave them the result. Gambia will now face Central Africa Republic as Ghana who qualified as one of the best third placed finishers will face Cameroon.
Morocco’s victory over Tanzania saw them top the group. El Mehdi El Moubarik, Mohammed Amine Essahel and Ayoub Mouloua scored within the opening 13 minutes, the result seeing them earn the right to play Tunisia in the last eight. Tunisia made the last eight by virtue of being one of the two best third place finishers.
