Aberdares Coach targets medal sweep in swimming
Aberdares region swimming coach Amos Mzenge is predicting a good run from his swimmers in the 2013 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association KSSSA games with swimming set to start on Friday at the Mangu school swimming pool.
Mzenge third overall with his side last year behind winners Mombasa and runners up Nairobi is once again expecting tough challenge from Nairobi and Mombasa regions whom he said have much better swimmers.
Aberdares region team held their training session at the swimming pool on Wednesday morning as they seek to acclimatize with the pool.
“Despite not having better facilities compared to my competitors from Nairobi and Mombasa I have a lot of confidence in my team. The swimmers have prepared well ready to for the gala.We have come here to enjoy ourselves and have a good gala and run professionally. We held our own gala where we chose the 30 students from different school to represent our region.” He added
Mzenge will be counting heavily on Leshan Nashikento and Kevin Korir who will be majoring in the Individual medleys IM and freestyle events.
“Yes I have good swimmers but those two are the most outstanding. We shall hold our final training tomorrow before we embark on the competition.” He said.
