Angella Okutoyi and Smriti Bhasin are W15 Nairobi Week Two Double Champions
Angella Okutoyi, Kenya, and Smriti Bhasin, India, are W15 Nairobi week two Double Champions.
Angella and Smriti overcame a tough battle against USA’s Sabastiani Leon and India’s Sharmadaa Baluu in a (6, 7) (3, 5) thrilling encounter.
Speaking to the media after the final, Angella said they needed to keep a positive mindset after losing in the semis in the first week.
"We tried to keep the positive mindset of wanting to do good in the second week, which I believe we did," she said.
On her part, Smriti had nothing but kind words to say about Angella and said that she was happy that they came on top after a tough final match.
"I want to thank Angella for playing with me. We had a great two weeks.
This week we had tough opponents. I want to congratulate our opponents, Sharmadaa and Sabastiani, for a good match," she said.
This was the first time that Angella had teamed up with Smriti making it the first title they had won together.
Angella and Smriti had gotten a walkover for their semis after their opponents Magdalena Stoilkovska, North Macedonia and Alexandra Lordache, Romania retired.
