Rumors circulate about Kola's potential move to National Super League side Naivas.
Defensive midfielder Ronney Kola bids farewell to Nairobi City Stars, concluding his tenure of three and a half seasons with the club. Joining City Stars in 2020 from the Kenya School of Government, Kola's impressive performance during trials secured him a long-term deal.
City Stars' CEO, Patrick Korir, confirmed Kola's departure, stating that the player is seeking more playing time elsewhere due to stiff competition within the team. Rumors circulate about Kola's potential move to National Super League side Naivas.
Acknowledging Kola's departure, Korir expressed the club's support for the player's decision to pursue a new challenge. He praised Kola's versatility and skills, emphasizing the uniqueness of the player. Kola, who predominantly played as a defensive midfielder, showcased adaptability in central defense, right back, and central defensive midfield roles.
In a heartfelt statement, Kola expressed gratitude to Nairobi City Stars, referring to the club as more than just a team but a family. He acknowledged the growth of his game during his four-year tenure and expressed a hope to return to City Stars in the future. Kola extended thanks to past and present Simba Wa Nairobi players, as well as the entire staff, for their support.
Kola's journey included a loan spell with Nairobi Stima in the 2020–2021 season and a sidelined period in the subsequent season due to injury. Returning for the 2022–23 season, Kola made his premier league debut in a season opener against Bidco United at Nyayo Stadium on November 19, 2022. He featured in 16 games that season and added one more cameo appearance against AFC Leopards in the 2023–24 Premier League season, bringing his top-flight games tally to 17.
