Nondi scores 5 as USIU hit nine past MKU


Experienced forward Lorraine Nondi hit the back of the board on five occasions as United States International University Africa USIU-A mauled Mount Kenya University MKU 9-0 in a women’s national league match played at the City Park stadium on Saturday.

The students were coming to the match following a 12-0 win over Kenyatta University last weekend. The goal poacher picked from where she left collecting a long pass from Agnes Macharia to hit the opener in the 3rd minute.

She was involved again two minutes later with a pass from Betty Mbugua going wide. Nondi got her second of the match in the 12th minute tapping in from close range as opposing defenders failed to clear the ball in the box.

The hard working Pauline Naise made an assist in the 18th minute sending Mbugua through to hit the third for the determined USIU side against their lackluster opponents from Nyeri County.

Naise scored the fourth in the 25th minute following with her trademark dribble before beating the opposing keeper with ease. That was to be last goal before the interval.

Nondi scored with 6 minutes after the restart with yet another field goal. Naomi Wanjiku scored in the 47th minute from a short corner. Anne Chilande scored two minutes later with Nondi completing her goal assault later in the match.

Match captain Caroline Ngarachu was in hand to praise her team-mates for the comprehensive victory but it was not without lamenting the missed chances.

“We did dominate the match completely just like we did last week. The team is playing much better compared to last season. Today we ought to have scored more from the chances we created.” said the captain.
