Forward Pauline Naise and Margret Rotich each bagged  hat tricks for  Kenya who  bounced back  from their opening loss to South Africa to beat neighbors Tanzania 13-1 in day two of the on-going Africa Cup of Nation championship at the City Park Stadium on Tuesday.

Naise scored the second goal of the match in the fifth minute after fellow treble snatcher Rotich had opened the flood gates in the second minute. Kenya had lost 3-1 to crown holders South Africa on Monday.

Lillian Aura, forward Anita Agunda and captain Besty Omalla gave Kenya a 5-0 lead at the interval against a shaky Tanzanian side.

The team came out hungrier in the second period going for more monies from sufficiently philanthropic Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi alias Sonko who pledged ksh 10,000 for every goal scored.

Barbara Simiyu scored three minutes after the break before an unfortunate own goal  from Benahzir Omotto.Rotich netted her second with 20 minutes to the clock.  Veteran forward Jacky  Jow  then netted  a quick brace in a span of two minutes.

Midfielder Audrey Amooh got herself in the score sheets with a late double as the home team pocketed ksh.130,000 from the flamboyant senator without much sweat .

Kenya captain Betsy Omalla was concerned with the numerous chances wasted saying they had opportunities to score more goals in the match.

“Today there was no option but win, firstly I am glad we won the match and we hit the target. At some point we lost track and we did not stick to the basics, but that is water under the bridge now, we will go back to the drawing board as we prepare to face Ghana on Thursday to ensure that we win.” she said.

In the second match played at the same venue, reigning champions South Africa were held to a 1-1 draw by Ghana. Cecilia Evans scored the lone goal for South Africa at 26th min while Elizabeth Opoku scored for Ghana at the 52th min.

Kenya are in third position with three points behind leaders Ghana and South Africa with a point more, the former have a superior goal difference.
