The much expected Baylor university team of students sportsmen, social workers and officials jetted into the country late Tuesday night for a 10 day sports development and community work projects around the country. The team of thirty comprises of Baylor university players drawn from different disciplines.

 Baylor University in Waco, Texas, is a private Baptist university, and a nationally ranked liberal arts institution. Chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas, Baylor is the oldest, continually operating university in the state and home to students from all 50 states in USA, and 80 countries around the world.
Every year the university students participate in community development programs in different regions across the world.
Baylor as a university enjoys some of the best sports facilities in USA with their players being among the finest in their competitive sports leagues.

The team will partner with Michezo afrika in conducting sports clinics and life skills training of youths around Nairobi besides playing a series of friendlies and exhibition matches.
The team comprises of Basketball team players, American football players, soccer players, volleyball players and a number of health workers and students .
Last year Baylor athlete’s chaplain Wes Yeary led a 16 member team of students on missions to Kenya where they visited different children’s homes and played several exhibition matches in Nairobi.

They swing into action today morning with a feel of slum life in Mukuru kwa Njega where they will be visiting the families of some Nairobi junior league players drawn from the humble slums. Nairobi junior league (NJL) is a program run by Michezo afrika and operates as a whole life soccer/futsal training model academy at the Nyayo stadium handball court every Sunday afternoon.

Later in the afternoon the teams are scheduled to play a series of friendly matches with the game between the Baylor university ladies basketball team and Kenya’s Strathmore University kicking off the visit at the Nyayo stadium basketball gymnasium.

Also scheduled for tomorrow is the Baylor ladies soccer team which will be playing a warm up match to kill jet lag against a select Kenya women soccer team in preparation for a must watch game between the Baylor ladies and the Kenya National ladies soccer team slated for Saturday 22nd May at the Nyayo stadium handball court.
