Kenyan teams cruise to the quarters in Mauritius

The three Kenya representative teams to this year’s African volleyball club championship in Mauritius booked their tickets to the quarter finals after toping their groups.
Kenya prisons, Kenya Pipeline and Kenya commercial bank all impressively cruised to the quarter finals with a clean intent of reclaiming the title won by the Egyptian Al Ahly last year in Nairobi.

Kenya pipeline which finished top of group B ahead of  Algeria’s Bejaia  will face Army Patriotic of Rwanda (APR) in the quarterfinals while Lungaho’s Kenya prisons will be facing it out with the Mauritius home girls black rangers.
KCB on the other hand will have an uphill task against the ASW Bejaia of Algeria.

In Group A, Cameroon’s Bafia Evolution finished top after beating Kutlwano of Botswana and Black Rangers of Mauritius in their preliminary matches. Bafia Evolution will face Anse Royale of Seychelles who lost to Prisons of Kenya on the final day of the first round games (3-0).

The Kenyan girls are competing to represent Africa at Volleyball’s premier club tournament, the FIVB World Club Championships, due to be held in Qatar December 14-21, 2010.Defending champions Al Ahly of Egypt had a disappointing last minute withdrawal from the championship after 8 of their players were said to be engaged in other assignments.

Kenya pipeline ,5 time previous champions, have shown a strong will to win the tournament registering impressive performances in their opening matches as we remain to see whether it will end up being an all Kenya final..
