This weekend’s FKF Cup semi finals derby between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia has been moved back to Sunday 18th November 2012 due to the unavailability of the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani that has been booked for another function on Saturday.

Initially, the match had been set for Sunday 18th November but after a meeting earlier this week, it was suggested that the two matches (Sofapaka vs Tusker and Gor Mahia vs AFC Leopards) be switched since the derby holds more weight and could be logical for it to be played on Saturday and the Sofapaka vs Tusker match be moved to Sunday.

According to FKF’s chairperson of the Leagues and competitions committee Doris Petra “the proposed switch for the derby to Saturday was not possible since we have been informed that Kasarani had already been booked for a Peponi School event six months ago and it is impossible to cancel their event.”

Petra further announced that there will be a security meeting involving all the four clubs on Thursday 11:00am at Kasarani and thereafter Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards officials, fans and players will be engaged in a peace walk to sensitize their fans on the importance of maintaining peace during the derby.

“Football is played in a friendly atmosphere and we want t preach peace amongst fans ahead of the big derby on Sunday.” She adds.
