AFC Leopards ordered to play in empty stadium

Following an executive meeting on Tuesday in Nairobi, Football Kenya Federation has announced that AFC Leopards will have to play their remaining league matches in an empty stadium as one way of disciplining the club for their fans’ conduct during the GOTV Shield Cup semifinal match on Monday 20th October.

FKF has also ruled that AFC Leopards will have to pay a fine of 500,000 shillings that will be payable within seven days. In addition, the club has also been directed to pay for the medical expenses incurred by the injured Match Officials and fans.

“The National Executive Committee has with great concern established that serious acts of hooliganism, violence, injuries and bodily harm occurred during the above referenced match. It has clearly emerged that a section of AFC Leopards S.C. fans caused the abandonment of the match in the 85th minute by throwing stones and other missiles into the field of play targeting the match officials, Players and the Police officers.

This barbaric and heinous action resulted in serious injuries to the match officials, fans and damage to vehicles as well as destruction of Stadium property.” Reads the statement by FKF.
