Dennis Oliech's Auxerre slipped to third place in Ligue 1 after losing to Olympic Lyon by 2-1

Auxerre began the game on second place and a win could have consolidated their champion's league ambitions.This was however to remain a pipe dream.

The game began on high tempo with Auxerre having the first break after top striker Jelen scored an easy goal following a mis-communication in Lyon defense.

Lyon however refused to concede and kept on the pressure that resulted in apenalty in the last minutes of the first half after Lyon's Sissoko was fouled by Hengbart. Lissandro Lopez sent Auxerre's goalie Torin on the wrong side to bury home the first goal from the spot.

In the second half,Lyon were the better side and the defining moment came in the 85th minute following a goal from Pjanic.

The result pushes Auxerre to third position -67-points-with Lille moving up one place on goal difference.Fourth placed Lyon have 65 points with a game at hand over the top three teams.
