Eagle Wings soar past the Flames
Defending women premier league champions Eagle Wings had no mercy on USIU Flames whipping the students 48-61 in a highly charged match played at the Nyayo gymnasium on Saturday.
The students contended every lead Eagle Wings made during the first quarter stretching the defending champions to a narrow 12-14 win in the first quarter but a series of turnovers and failure to bury baskets on fast breaks cost Flames 12-18 in the second quarter giving
Eagle Wings an eight-point lead at halftime.
The third quarter was equally contested with Eagles making a comeback to win it 12-13. USIU
however stirred excitement in the final quarter of the game narrowing down Eagle Wings lead to six points but the experienced Rose Ouma came out handy to dilute the students' efforts with great assists and defense on Hilda Indasi to help her side win it out 12-16.
Hilda Indasi and Georgia Merab donated 18 and 12 points respectively to Flames loss while
while forwards Silalei Owuor and Angela Akoth had 9 each for Eagle Wings.
