Chez’Afrika is a soccer youth project operating in South B Mukuru Fuata Nyayo and its environs. The project was founded and registered as a CBO back in February 2008 under the visionaries Edward, Ricky, Emmanuel, Caren and Gibson.
Chez’Afrika uses soccer as a tool to mentor children and teens between the ages of 8-17 years in spiritual, physical and moral values and at the same time tap into their talents aside from soccer (rugby, handball, arts). The vision of Chez’Afrika is to reach out and transform vulnerable youths to well-rounded and productive citizens through wholesome activities. This is achieved by:
- Soccer training and clinics for players between 9-17 years. The trainings are conducted by a team of trained coaches who identify and nurture their hidden talents.
- Imparting life skills and moral character to players through team talks, workshops, community development activities and organized holiday tuitions
- Exposing the players to soccer challenges through friendly matches and tournaments organized on regular basis
Chez’Afrika has at least 50 players playing soccer and looking to grow exponentially in coming years. Currently, the academy has players in these categories
Some of the achievements of Chez’Afrika include wining several local tournaments with outstanding children playing in the Nairobi Junior League. Future plans include venturing into girls soccer and arts. Chez’Afrika players train every Saturday and Sunday from 2.30pm to 5.00pm during school days and everyday at the same times during the holidays. Training grounds are Kenya Polytechnic men’s hostel.
