It was observed that there were un-procedural withdrawals of large amounts totaling Ksh 29,502,709 from FKF bank accounts. Most of the withdrawals were majorly made from the bank accounts that were not disclosed to the inspection committee at the time of inspection.
Their arrests are in connection with the recent move by the Kenyan Government to disband the organization and replace it with a caretaker committee. It also comes in the wake of an audit report which has allegedly reveal years of financial impropriety at the body mandated to run the game in Kenya.

Any failure to these obligations may lead to sanctions provided for in the FIFA Statutes, even if the thirdparty influence was not the fault of the member association concerned (cf. art. 14 par. 3 of the FIFA Statutes). "First, the Football Kenya Federation has failed to account for all the monies allocated to it by the Government. All beneficiaries of the Fund are as a matter of course trained on how to apply, utilize and account for the funds. The beneficiaries are also aware that they are required to fully disclose any financial assistance received from other sponsors. Football Kenya Federation has fallen short of this requirement.”
FKF has been under increased scrutiny for poor performances by the Harambee Stars as well as financial impropriety under the stewardship of current Head Honcho Mwendwa.
