TUK shines as MKU picks first win in ZUBL
TUK vs Moi University Nairobi
Technical University teams on Saturday took advantage of their home ground support to win both their matches as the Zuku Universities basketball League Nairobi Conference continued on Saturday.TUK’s men team collected a vital 66-43 win over Moi University Nairobi in one of the matches staged a the TUK’ grounds located in South B.
Tuk’s Lawrence Wandera was the best scorer on the day managing 19 points for his side while Hope Roberts had 12.
In the women’s match played earlier in the day at the same TUK’ grounds, TUK women had an easy day past Daystar University winning 44-18 (02-07, 01-07, 07-13,08-16).Though her team failed to shine, Natalie Akinyi was the lone Star for her side scoring 16 points on her own.
In the other women’s match played at the same ground, Mount Kenya University Thika was too smart for Catholic University (CUEA) beating the latter 30-25 in a balanced affair that could have gone either side.
Both teams scored very low points in the first three quarters (actually below ten points) MKU (06, 05, 05, 14), CUEA (02, 05, 08, 10) raising concern from coaches, “It is very disturbing that our women teams are recording very low scores. I think we need to work more on our execution. The scoring margin is very low across the league especially among our women teams.” Said MKU coach Iddi Shabban.
On their first appearance this season, JKUAT did not sweat much beyond their warm up as they were awarded walk overs when their opponents Kenyatta University failed to turn up for the matches both in men and women categories.
