Zambia seeking to ride on men’s team success

Zambia’s national U-20 ladies soccer team landed in Nairobi on Thursday evening ahead of their weekend tie against their hosts Kenya. The match will be played at the Nyayo national stadium on Saturday afternoon with the eventual winner gaining a ticket to the next stage of the World Cup qualifier.

Zambia held a light morning session at the Marist College in Karen and are currently having a feel of the Nyayo stadium surface. The venue of tomorrow’s match.

Zambias coach Martha Kampompo said “We know Kenya will be backed by their home fans but we will not sit down and defend, we need to prove that Women football in Zambia is on the rise as our Men team has proven .”

Zambia qualified for the second round after eliminating neighbors Malawi 9-4 on aggregate , while Kenya sailed through after beating Lesotho 4-2.
