The triumphant Kenyan U-20 girls team landed home on Tuesday night at 9:00PM from Johannesburg South Africa to a warm reception. The contingent comprising of 18 players and seven officials led by leader of delegation Angeline Mwikali and head coach Florence Adhiambo was received by senior Football Kenya Federation officials at the airport led by Hussein Swaleh and Patrick Naggi.

Speaking immediately upon arrival at JKIA, coach Adhiambo said it is high time women soccer received enough support from both the federation and the government as it could land Kenya a World Cup berth even before Brazil 2014 Men’s World Cup.

Adhiambo also said their good result over Lesotho is a true manifestation of the qualities possessed by the Kenyan women soccer players who need a lot of exposure and support.

Kenya qualified for the first round of the U-20 World Cup qualification with a 4-2 goal aggregate win over Lesotho following a 2-0 win in Nairobi during the first leg and a 2-2 return leg draw in Maseru over the weekend.

The Kenyan girls will face Zambia in the round one early next year.
