Nigerian coach complains of poor surface - Vows to pip Kenya

Nigeria Falcons head coach Peter Dedevbo has said that the team is ready to face their Kenyan counterparts in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday, but has lamented that the Nyayo National Stadium pitch is not perfect for his team’s good performance.

“We have felt the pitch and I am not very pleased with the turf. It is not as good and I am afraid that it might change our game. But this is Africa and we have to get used to that.
However, we are ready for the Kenyans and I am telling them that we are coming for nothing short of three points whether we are going to win 1-0 or 10-0 the bottom line is we have to leave here with maximum points”, Dedevbo told Michezoafrika.com.

The coach said that he has trained with the girls for only two weeks but says that will not affect his game plan.

“I have only had two weeks with these girls. I picked them from secondary schools and academies but I am confident with them with the short time we have been with them. We are going for attacking soccer not necessarily play defensive because we are away. We want to attack all the way”.

“This is like a friendly match for us. We are just using these games to prepare the girls for future tournaments”, he says.

The Nigerian U17 team participated in the World Cup two years ago but that will not be the same team playing since most of the players have graduated to the U20 side.
