Finally -Kenyan U-20 Starlets get travel assurance

After three false departures, the Kenyan national U-20 women’s soccer team is set to jet off later on Friday night for Maseru Lesotho where they are scheduled to play in a 2012 world Cup qualifier against Lesotho. The match will be played at the Maseru national stadium in Lesotho on Sunday afternoon 11th December.

The 25 member contingent will be led by Angeline Mwikali as leader of delegation.Mwikali has attributed the uncertainty in the team’s itinerary to unavailability of planes since most of them have been fully booked.

“It has been very hard to get space on the planes but finally I can report we have secured tickets and the team will depart later tonight (Friday).” She said.

Initial reports had indicated the team will be traveling in two batches, the first on Thursday night and the other on Friday morning. This was later changed to Friday midday though the team never departed.

“The girls have been waiting and though they are patient, they have become anxious now. However, they are in good mental state for the match as they have received assurances of travel later tonight.” Said head coach Florence Adhiambo.
