The Kenya national Under 20 women’s team will miss out on a chance to progress to the third round of the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup qualifiers after losing 2-1 to hosts Tunisia in the second leg match played in Tunisia on Saturday 14th April.

Kenya needed to win the match by a margin of two goals but they found themselves trailing 2-0 with Tunisia’s first goal scored from the spot in the 12th minute through French based striker Ella Kabbachi who plays for PSG.Tunisia were leading the match 1-0 by half time but Kenya frequently threatened to equalize.

On resumption Amel Majri scored an 72nd minute goal for the hosts to further complicate matters for the Kenyan girls as they now needed to score more than three times.

Neddy Atieno scored Kenya’s lone goal in the 90th minute of the match but this was not enough to push the match to extra time as Tunisia progressed to the next round.

Kenya has bowed out of the qualifiers on a 4-2 aggregate after going down by a similar margin in Nairobi two weeks ago.

The 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will be held in Japan. Tunisia now progresses to the third round which has four teams. The top two teams in the CAF region will qualify for the event.
