Former Kenyan International footballer Doreen Nabwire is among thirty youthful sports leaders currently undergoing an advanced grassroots sports development and leadership training in Qatar at the Aspire Dome. The ten-day training camp has been organized by the UN Office on Sport for Development and Peace in collaboration with Right to Play as a major knowledge partner as well as other partner organizations.

It has attracted visionary youthful leaders from developing countries of Sub-Saharan Africa and the Palestinian Territory who are currently working with grassroots Sport for Development and Peace (SDP) projects. Doreen Nabwire is currently attached to the talent academy’s technical bench and has been involved in several community development projects. She is also part of the current national U-17 youth team technical bench.

According to the organizers of the event “The camp provides the youth with practical leadership skills, best practices practical leadership training and best practice examples from leading SDP experts. After the completion of the camp the youth will be able to design, improve, implement and evaluate their own SDP initiatives and help invoke change in their communities.”
