Coach Adhiambo urges fans to turn up in large numbers

National Under 20 Women’s team head coach Florence Adhiambo has issued a passionate plea to Kenyan soccer lovers to turn up in large numbers on Saturday and support them as they take on their Tunisian Counterparts in a World Cup Qualifier match set for Saturday.

This will be the first leg of the second last hurdle the girls need to jump before they book a ticket for the World Cup games set for Japan in August.

“When the men are playing, the Stadium is always filled to Capacity. We urge those same fans to fill the Stadium on Saturday because the girls need the fans support. It is high time they believed in us”, she says.

The U - 20 team under the tutelage of Coach Florence has been excellent in three of their opening matches, passing each stage convincingly.

They started off by beating Lesotho 2-1 at home before forcing a 2-2 draw in Maseru. In the second stage, they lost 1-2 to Zambia in the first leg but came back stronger in the second leg, blasting the She-polopolo 4-0 at home in Nairobi.

"The girls have played their hearts out in the past stages and this is the time we need fans to come and support us push oursekves to the world Cup.This is the chance and we need the extra motivation from our fans." Added Adhiambo.

They have to win the first leg convincingly putting in mind the difficulty Kenyan teams always face when they play North African opponents away from home.

A win for them in both legs will see them remain with only one hurdle to jump, playing against either Ghana or South Africa.

The Kenyan Girls have proved the critics wrong and made everyone see that indeed there is talent in girls soccer. They now drink and dine amongst African football greats.
