Kenya Prisons volleyball setter Jane Wacu and Kenya Pipeline Libero Midlred Odwako are back in the final team to represent Kenya during the oncoming Olympics qualifier set to be played in Algeria from 31st of January 2012.The final team was named on Saturday afternoon at the team’s training camp in Kasarani in Nairobi.

Wacu and Odwako were both not included in the previous Kenyan team that took part in the 2011 FIVB World Cup in Japan as they were excluded by the Kenya Volleyball Federation on disciplinary grounds.

Speaking immediately after being named in the final team, Jane Wacu said “This is a great opportunity for me and I appreciate that am finally back in the final team. It is a great honor to be part of those to represent over 40 million Kenyans especially after missing the World Cup. All of us have worked hard to be in the final team and it is now upon us as a unit to ensure Kenya qualify’s for the Olympics.”  She said.

Odwako on her part said they expect stiff competition especially from the North African nations including Algeria and Egypt who have over the years proved to be a hard opponent for Kenya.

“The fact that they are playing at home doesn’t mean they will scare us. We are going in head on ready for qualification.” Said Odwako.

In their last encounter during the World Cup in Japan, Algeria beat Kenya with a comfortable 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 16-26 and 23-25)win and being at home, it will for sure be a tough outing for the Africa champions (Kenya) who must emerge champions to book the single African slot at the Olympics
