Umoja Flamengoes clinch Eastlands Community Cup

Harambee Stars midfielder Francis Kahata steered Umoja based Flamengoes Fc to a 2-1 triumph over resilient Dandora Indomitables to clinch the annual Eastlands Community Cup on new year’s eve at the
Huruma Grounds before a mammoth crowd.

 Flamengoes who fielded several Kenya Premier League(KPL) players who reside in Nairobi’s Umoja Estate  were awarded with a cash prize of Kshs.50,000 while Indomitables pocketed sh.25,000.Tusker FC coach Francis Kimanzi handed the winners with the cash prize.

Flamengoes fielded the likes of Kahata,Moses Otieno(Posta Rangers),Peter Wainaina(Ex-KCB),Maurice Odipo(Bandari), and Paul Odhiambo of Western Stima among others  who were a joy to watch.

Chrispinus Onyango who play’s for KCB scored both goals for Flamengoes in the first half while Kennedy Ochieng handed the Indomitable a great relief when he scored their consolation goal
before  halftime.

The match was witnessed by among others Tusker FC , Sony Sugar,Mathare United  tacticians  Kimanzi, Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno and Stanley Okumbi and other sports  dignitaries .Area Legislator Hon.Stephen Kariuki send his apologies. The annual event attracted over 30 teams and another 12 junior teams that vied for the Under 17 category.

KayoleYouth emerged the Under 17 winners after edging out Asec Huruma with a solitary goal.

The one –month  tournament that was  sponsored by Savanna Cement  and area leaders featured top clubs in  Eastlands area that included Huruma Cranes,Asec Huruma,Young Kings,Pelico,Eastleigh Youth,Zamalek,Lula,Dandora Ajentoes,and Kayole Youth among others.
