Rwanda disqualified from AFCON Qualifiers

The Rwandese National soccer team has been disqualified from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers. In an announcement on Sunday, CAF says Rwanda was found guilty of fielding an ineligible player during their preliminary Round match against Congo played in Pointe Noire on 20th of July.

The decision was reached by CAF following a protest made by the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT)  “The protest by Congo contested the eligibility of the player Birori Dady aligned with Rwanda, and plays for the AS Vita Club of Kinshasa with Congolese (DRC) passport as Etekiama Agiti Tady, and a different age.

Following investigations by CAF and on the basis of documents provided by the federations of Rwanda, Congo and DR Congo, and hearing the player's testimony on 11 August 2014 at CAF headquarters in Cairo, CAF established that the two identities only referred to a single person.” As quoted by cafonline.

As a result of the findings , CAF has therefore announced that the player in mention be suspended and banned from playing for both club and country until further notice  and also ruled that Rwanda be disqualified and Congo proceeds to the next phase of the qualifiers.
