Ghana to face Ivory Coast in AFCON Finals

Ghana reached the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations after a 3-0 humbling of host nation Equatorial Guinea on Thursday in a match that was also marred by scenes of hooliganism.

The Black Stars will now meet Ivory Coast in the finals on Saturday in Bata while the host nation fight off with Democratic Republic of Congo for the third place.

The semifinal match had to be halted for over 20 minutes as fans pelted objects and attacked Ghanaian fans in the stands forcing officials to stop play.

Ghana were blazing hot with a 3-0 lead by the start of the missile throwing with eight minutes remaining on the clock  as fans desperately watched their dream team hopes washed away.

Ghana opened their scoring three minutes before halftime through Jordan Ayew who slotted in a penalty after Kwesi Appiah had been dropped in the box by the Equatorial Goalkeeper who was lucky to escape a red card.

Christian Atsu gave Ghana a 2-0 cushion by halftime as he slotted in calmly from inside the box following a lovely square pass.

Andre Ayew then wrapped it all up with a final goal 15 minutes to the end of the match making it 3-0, a result that set up the Black Stars for a date with the Elephants of Ivory Coast in what is expected to be an explosive final.
