Kenya Body Building Federation (KBBF) on Thursday  launched the much awaited Mr. and Miss Nairobi. The event aimed at harmonizing and bringing together body builders in Kenya’s capital will be staged at Charter Hall on 9th of May 2015.

The event will have a pre-judging section starting from 9:00 am -11:00 am. The main event is scheduled for 5:00-11:00pm later that day. Approximately 100 athletes from the 15 branches country wide are expected to participate in front of guests of honor, Cabinet Secretary Ministry of sports arts and culture Hassan Wario and Nairobi County Governor Evans Odhiambo Kidero among others.

All athletes have also been requested to register with the federation first before taking part as contestants.

Chairman Christantus Omedo has urged the participating athletes to adhere by the laws as anyone who will be detected doing anything illegal will face dire consequences. “Doping in Kenya is now a serious issue that we have to note with urgency.

“KBBF will not protect any athlete caught using banned substances. He/she will have to take full responsibility of her/his actions. Anyone who will go against the federation’s constitution and the sports act 2013 will face the full wrath of the law,” he reiterated.

Notable athletes expected to grace the occasion will be the much experienced 2012 Mr. Kericho overall champion, Samuel (Sammy Kush) Otieno. Three times Mr. Kenya, the indomitable Leonard Lihanda who won the titles in 2001, 2003 and 2005 will also flex his muscles and 2014 Muscle Mania Africa runners up, Zablon Osiemo who is also the USN supplement company ambassador has confirmed his participation among the elites of Kenyan body building. Charming female body building model Caroline Yidah will also grace the podium in the ladies category.

The competition will be divided into two. The men will flex their muscles and compete in six categories. The categories will be the hotly contested Bantam weight followed by light weight, welter weight, middle weight, light heavy weight and the heavy weight category. There will also be another category contested differently, the male fitness physique. Second will be the women who will compete in three categories namely the figure or Bikini category, athletics and..

KBBF is highly emphasizing the promotion of good health, sports fitness programs, proper nutrition and avoidance of illegal substances. The federation is embarking on a program to work hand in hand with Kenya

Anti-doping Agency. This will ensure that body building athletes are properly educated in accordance to the law.
