Kenya is set to host the Wheelchair world team cup in Nairobi as from 28th February to 2nd march at the Kenya monetary studies, says Kenya lawn tennis association KLTA chair lady, Ms.  Paurvi Rawal.

Speaking to michezoafrika.com, Ms. Rawal said they have already received confirmation from seven countries among them South Africa, Libya, Gambia and Morocco, for the four day event that will run from.

The ITF is really showing development as far as the physically handicapped are concerned, in a manner that shows that inability is not a disability.ITF will be working closely with the physically challenged who are passionate with sports.

There have been workshops in Kenyan notably in Parklands, Sadili Oval, Kenya University and Mombasa in efforts to enlighten the physically handicapped not to give up in sports.

“I am pleased with what the ITF are doing, they are bringing the physically challenged into the game, Kenya has not been a very good advocate, majorly because of the unfavorable structures we have and the lack of training facilities, this is a good opportunity to develop wheelchair tennis to higher heights” Said the chairlady

KLTA still does not have an established program for physically challenged tennis players but will enter two Kenyan teams of three players in the men and women’s categories at the continental championship. The event referee will be Mr. Patrick Kamuhia, a renowned, seasoned experienced bronze badge International official said Ms .Rawal.

“According to the 2012 tennis calendar, after the wheelchair event we will have Kenya open championship in March, 9th -10th March for the juniors and 11th -18th March for the seniors.” Concluded Rawal.
