The Moi International Sports Complex is located in Kasarani which is approximately 15KM from the city centre and in the outskirts of Nairobi. This multi-purpose complex is the largest stadium in Kenya and can seat up to 60,000 people aside from VIP lounges and hospitality suites. Similarly, the sports complex boast of other crucial services and facilities such as modern changing rooms, mini shops, restaurants, internet hot spots, press and media areas, 6 conference rooms each with a capacity of 60 person.
The building of the Moi International Sports complex was necessitated by the need for large and modern venue to host the 4th All African Games back in 1987. The Kenyan government entered into a bilateral agreement with the Chinese government to build an unrivaled sports complex which would consequently be used to host international prestigious games. The result was a stadium of international standard and repute ranked one of the best in the African continent. The stadium facilities ranged from a Stadion hotel, an Aquatic Centre, an Indoor Arena and the Main stadium. Prior to its completion, the Nyayo National stadium was the only stadium of choice for large events.
