Kakamega County, Kenya, brags of one of the oldest Stadia in the region, Bukhungu Stadium. The 5,000 seater lies on Kisumu Kakamega Road just 700 meters from Kakamega Town, opposite Nakumatt Supermarket. It is also flanked by Masinde Muliro University of which they share the perimeter fence. It is a home to two Kenya Premier League sides, Western Stima and Kakamega Homeboyz. Lately, the renovation of the stadium has come under sharp scrutiny after one of the sides (Russia) collapsed. The Stadium is set to be ready by August 2017 after the planned 1 Billion Shilling renovation by the County government that will see the Capacity increase to 40,000.

Occasionally, the stadium also hosts other sporting events like athletics as well as large political gatherings, crusades along with concerts. Similarly, this stadium is used by individuals in pursuit of personal fitness for morning and evening jogs; at least when the weather is favorable.
