Strathmore upset Mwamba to take charge at the top

Updated on 12/02/12  |    By DENNIS MACHIO

Strathmore Leos on Saturday annihilated Mwamba’s form at the top of the Kenya Cup table with a 19 -13 defeat on match day ten of the ongoing League. Mwamba came into the match with a single point advantage over Leos at the top of the table and this was billed to be a fierce face off, in the end, Strathmore toppled Mwamba at the top.

Missing the services of four key players who are in Las Vegas for national duty, Mwamba looked obliterated and less creative as they fell hard to the Leos who are fighting for a top place Kenya Cup finish.

Coming into the match with 28 points, Strathmore are now comfortable at the summit with 32 points.

KCB too was in good shape this weekend against hosts Machine who had smoked Impala’s scalp last weekend at the University ground. The Bankers extended their pressure for domination at the top three with a 20-29 win over their hosts Machine.

It was not redemption time yet for new comers Kisumu RFC who had last week stung Nondies 28-25 with a critical win that lifted them from the basement of the league table. On Saturday, their results were overturned right at their backyard as they fell 6-20 to champions Quins.

Another basement placed Homeboyz extended her painful slump falling 15-30 to Impala.Homeboyz enjoyed a great start at the beginning of the season but a series of downward results has seen them slip to be condemned underneath. They lost to Mwamba 41-9 last week.
