Kenya 7’s team shines in Las Vegas

Updated on 11/02/12  |    By KOLLO NABISWA

Kenya produced a breathtaking display as they taught rugby lessons to Brazil in the second match of the day annihilating them 38-0 in Las Vegas Sevens on Saturday morning.

Earlier, Kenya had beaten Scotland 17-14 with tries coming from brothers Collins Injera and Humphrey Kayange (2). Lavin Asego converted one. Kenya fell behind to an early Sena Kennedy try but Kayange pulled one back before recess. On resumption, Injera raced clear to touch down for his first try in US. Kayange stretched the lead later before Scotland scored in the last minute of the game.

In the second match, Kenya just needed two minutes to open the scoring through forward David Ambunya. Kayange added another before Horace Otieno powered through to a third try. Injera added three quick tries and his brother Kayange another one to seal a quarter final slot.

Kenya will play their final pool game against England tonight but they have already qualified for Main Cup quarters.

The games resume tonight at 11pm.
