The 2015 Airtel Rising Stars Regional Finals kicked off on a cracking pace across the country with favourite teams winning respective first round matches.

Reigning national champions Kakamega High School began their Nzoia region qualifiers with a 1-0 win over Vihiga High School as former champions St. Anthony's Kitale were too strong for Lodwar, crushing the Turkana county representatives 6-0.

Over in the Metropolitan region, Nairobi's Upper Hill started their quest to reach the nationals with a 1-0 win over Matuu, a match termed by Head Coach Gilbert Walusimbi as being tough. He further added that his charges were taking one game at a time, with the intent to top the pool and navigate the knockouts.

Mombasa’s Tononoka started the Coast region on a high, crushing Lamu 4-0. This score was matched by Waa when they beat Likoni by a similar score.

Simotwo and Chemase will meet in the Mau Region boys final after emerging unscathed from the semis. Simotwo beat Kamungei 2- as Chemase edged Wareng’ 1-0.

In the Girls category, St. John’s were in no laughing mood, hammering Lake Kenyatta 10-0 before stopping Kajembe 13-0 to all but reach the semis in the coast region.

Eburu and Kapkures will meet in the Mau Region girls final. Eburu were 2-0 winners over Jesoen as Kapkures stopped Plateau 1-0.

The winners of the regional events will qualify for the Airtel Rising Stars Secondary schools Term 2B national championships to be played at the Machakos Boys High School from 27th July to 1st August.
