Sofapaka coach John Baraza says the team will not give up on clinching the Kenyan premier League title until the last day of the season despite sitting third on the log with a 13 point gap between them and leaders Gor Mahia.
With nine matches before the season ends, Baraza is hopeful Gor will drop more points like they did against Bandari and he hopes his charges will take full advantage in the event it happens.
“This is football, you know. Gor Mahia have two games at hand yes, but you never know what will happen. It is not a guarantee they will win all the games. For us we have to keep the faith, keep the hope and keep winning,” the tactician said.
Sofapaka won 1-0 against Ulinzi Stars last weekend, bouncing back from two losses.
“We played very well against Ulinzi in what I can say was our toughest match this season. We were lucky to get a goal at the end. We also played very well against Tusker and it was unfortunate we lost. Those two losses took the pace out of our chase but we have to work and get back those points,” Baraza noted.
Batoto ba Mungu still have to play Gor in Meru at the end of the month and having come inches close to beating them in their first leg meeting which ended 3-3. They had come from two goals down to lead 3-2 before a last minute goal saw the spoils shared.
