Dennis Ng’ang’a, Mungai Kiongera, Augustine Otu and substitute Joe Waithira scored as Wazito FC thrashed Zoo Kericho 4-1 to move to 19 points on the Kenyan Premier League standings and continue their fight towards survival.

Zoo had equalized to 1-1 through Collins Neto, but some horrible goalkeeping from Vincent Misikhu saw them relinquish hope of a comeback as they lost with a huge margin, pushing them closer into relegation.

Ng’ang’a opened the scoring early on with a brilliantly taken freekick from almost 35 yards out, Keeper Misikhu completely left out of sorts. Despite going down, Zoo gave a fight and found themselves level on the half hour mark.

Wazito keeper Kevin Omondi assumed a cross from Kepha Ondati thinking it was rolling out, but Neto raced at the backpost to slide in and tap the ball home.

But it only took Wazito two minutes to get their lead back when Kiongera’s low shot from inside the area rolled beneath the keeper’s bossom as he took a comical dive. At the stroke of halftime, Wazito went 3-1 up.

From a counter, Whyvonne Isuza put Otu through on goal with a square pass. The Liberian’s first effort was saved by the keeper but he got fortunate with a goal after Matini Murabwa hit the spilled ball against his feet and into the net.

In the second half, with victory in sight, Wazito had their pace slowed down but they cemented the lead with quarter of an hour left, Waithira scoring with the keeper off his line barely a minute after coming on for Musa Masika.
