Vivian Cheruiyot wins Frankfurt Marathon

Former Olympic and World 1000m Queen Vivian Cheruiyot on Sunday bagged her first major marathon title since switching to the long distance off track race.  Cheruiyot posted 2hours 23 minutes 35 seconds to win the Frankfurt marathon with her personal best.

In April , Cheruiyot posted a time of  2:23:50  to finish 4th during the 2017 edition of the London marathon and her major breakthrough on Sunday secures her an amazing record as one of Kenya’s finest long distance runner.

Ethiopia’s duo of Yebruga Melese and Messekerem Assefa completed the medal finish in the women race.

In the men’s edition of the race Ethiopian completed a clean sweep taking all top three positions led by Shure Tola in first place , Kelkile Gezahegn  in silver position while Getu Feleke was third.

Kenya’s Martin Kosgey missed the podium by a single position as he came home in 4th place.
