The 2016 Safari Rally postponed indefinitely

The 64th edition of the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Safari Rally has been postponed.

The prestigious rally set for the Easter weekend of March 24-27 has been postponed due to logistical challenges.

"The Kenya Motor sports Federation (KMSF) regrets the latest development. However, the Federation is determined to ensure this year's Safari Rally will be held successfully at a later date," read a statement from the KMSF communications department.

However, the KMSF board will meet on Friday (March 18) to deliberate and decide on new date after consultations with sponsors and stakeholders.

The local governing Motor sports federation urged drivers to continue with their preparations as it works out ways and means of ensuring that the event is held this year.

The Safari rally was the second round of the KCB Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) series after the opening leg was held on February 27 in Kajiado.
