Strathmore Leos and Menengai Oilers booked their berths in the Prinsloo 7s final after overcoming their opponents in semifinal action at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Sunday 10 July 2022.

The Leos took on top seeds Homeboyz in the first semifinal, racing into a 19-0 lead at the break through Brunson Madigu’s converted try and a conversion on one of George Ooro’s two tries.

Ooro then rose highest after the restart, claiming the ball and racing clear for his third try, Madigu converting for the massive lead before Brian Mutugi grabbed a consolation try for the deejays.

Oilers also raced into a 19-0 lead at the break through tries from Dennis Abukuse who also added a conversion before drilling another two pointer following Steve Arunga’s try before Geoff Ominde went over for the Oilers third try.

KCB started the second half strongly, awarded a penalty try before Peter Kilonzo weaved his way through the Oilers defense, his converted try giving KCB hope but they were unable to beat the clock as the Oilers marched into their third consecutive final this season.

Top seeds Homeboyz reached the cup semifinal at the Prinsloo 7s with a clinical 26-0 victory over Masinde Muliro.

Tries from Amon Wamalwa (2), Brian Mutugi and Jan Remke as well as Wamalwa’s three conversions saw the deejays stay in contention for a second successive cup title after last weekend’s win in Kisumu.

They will face the Strathmore Leos who edged Kenya Harlequin 26-19 in a thriller a minute quarterfinal.

The Menengai Oilers were 14-7 winners over Kabras Sugar and will play against KCB who edged Mwamba 12-7 in the last of the quarterfinal fixtures.
