Stars'Defender Joash Onyango joins Simba
Gor Mahia Centre Back Joash Onyango has joined Tanzania's Simba SC
Harambee Stars’ centre back Joash Onyango has parted ways with Kenyan football giants Gor Mahia over unpaid dues.
Gor Mahia owed the Kenyan international salary arrears for five months with his four-year contract with Gor Mahia FC, also known as K’Ogalo expected to end on December 31.
Onyango, capped three times and signed with Foot Marketing and Consulting (FMC) has sealed a lucrative two-year deal with Tanzanian 2019/20 champions Simba SC.
“Onyango was owed a lot of money by Gor Mahia and he put in a demand letter to them that went unanswered. He then served a notice as required and started negotiations with Simba SC who have always been interested in his services,” the club said via its official website.
Onyango intimated that he felt ripe for a tougher challenge and since K’Ogalo had not approached him for an extension of his tenure at the outfit, he grabbed the next opportunity that came by.
The defender has played 18 matches for K’Ogalo at the continental level- 12 Champions League ties (1545 minutes) and six Confederation Cup duels (540 minutes).
At the Tanzanian side, also known as Wekundu Wa Msimbazi, Onyango will reunite with former teammates at K’Ogalo Rwandese Meddie Kagere and compatriot Francis Kahata.
