Harambee Starlets were on Sunday evening tossed out of the 2016 Olympic qualifier after they lost 0-1 to South Africa's Banyana Banyana at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

The defeat saw Kenya bow out on a 2-0 aggregate having lost by a similar margin in the first leg in South Africa two weeks ago.

Substitute Rhoda Mulandzi scored the lone goal in 23rd minute with a rocket long range shot which beat Kenyan goalkeeper Pauline Atieno.

Clear cut chances for the home side were few and far between in a match dominated by the hosts who now progress to the third and final round of the qualifiers.

Kenyan coach David Ouma was however positive in his assessment of the game saying the girls need to nurtured for the future.

"To me, the girls showed character and just need support. We came along way and to reach this level is commendable,"Ouma told reporters after the match.
