SJACK Chairman Chris Mbaisi elected AIPS Africa Vice President
Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJACK) President Chris Mbaisi has been elected as Vice-President of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), Africa.
Mbaisi who is a leading Kenyan Sports journalist and current Star Newspaper Sports editor garnered 19 votes to take the continental position after defeating four other contestants.
Three candidates including two incumbents Amadou Dioulde Diallo (Guinea’s), Kabulo Nuanna Kabulo from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Yonas Teshome Getaneh of Ethiopia tied with 12 votes each in the first round while Mbaisi got 19 votes and Sudan’s Mufti Mohammed Saeed secured 15 votes to be declared outright winners.
The voting happened on Monday during the AIPS Congress held in Nairobi.
